So, I wanted a sign with a mishmash of letters and objects portrayed as letters. Chipboard F, Wavy Tin A from Hobby Lobby, wooden W turned upside down and painted, I from an license plate. L from metal pieces I had and the Y a combo of the handle of a butter knife and a pair of wire strippers. I was able to glue the F on but the other letters have screws or nails to keep them in place.
As you can see, I didn't get off to the best start. I wasn't precise enough, therefore it's a bit misshapen. I WILL make another one, and be much more precise and careful. I didn't take photos of the second layer of the grid. I just wanted it done at that point. It's crazy, I was ever so careful to line the crafts sticks up just right, but when dry they didn't look straight. I did pull some off and reglued them. I used Elmer's wood glue. No special reason. It's just what I have. I had to find things to lay the sticks on to create the grid, I used dvd cases, stacks of the jumbo craft sticks and anything else that would work. I also used magnetic fridge clips to clamp two sticks together while the glue dried, as well as using binder clips. Anything that would work. LOL. Despite it's flaws, I like it well enough. It does what I wanted it to do, hold my paint bottles. So, it's all good!
